Trev has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the sport and is an avid follower – [...]

Mark Cavendish – Boy Racer – candid and for the punter…
I don’t know a pile about Mark Cavendish, but most of what I know I like. I noticed over on CyclingNews that they’ve got a preview of a book that he’s released about his experiences becoming a pro cyclist. The book is aptly named “Boy Racer” and it’s appeal to me is captured up in [...]

Creating bike obsession in kids and some cool helmets…
I love to ride – ok, I’m obsessed by riding my bicycle. Like lots of blokes with kids, there’s always a challenge between balancing how much time I spend out on my bike with time spent with my better half and my kids.
The best way to indulge an obsession in my view is to share [...]

Bike Porn Monday #13
Well, it’s been a while and long overdue for me to post up a little more bike porn. There’s lots of nice new stuff that I’ve spotted over the last few months, here’s a bit of it for your viewing pleasure.

Whilst most people think of time trialling or track racing when it comes to [...]

Track Racing – bruised lungs and getting schooled…
If you’re a trackie and living anywhere in or around Sydney, you’d have known that last night kicked off the start of the 2009 series of Race All Winter (RAW).
After making my ‘debut’ track racing last year I was itching to get out there again this year and enjoy the rough and tumble smash fest [...]

Twitter and pro cyclists – a little megalomania or just good fun?
If you’ve never heard of Twitter then this post is going to be a little tough to follow. Furthermore, most people explain Twitter as simply a series of Facebook updates, so if you also don’t use Facebook, then again you’re going to struggle.
In brief, Twitter is what is known as “social media” and is a [...]

Dr Sludge – farking brilliant puncture protection…
Pfschttt… Is there any more depressing sound – or feeling – of a tyre going flat from rolling over some bit of road debris. Nothing interrupts a good ride than having to fix a flat, and why oh why do they always seem to occur right when you’re running late on your way to work??
If [...]

Bravo Columbia – tougher road rage rules favour cyclists…
If you’ve ever ridden a bike on a main road in traffic, you’ve most likely copped some abuse from impatient motorists. For six and half years I’ve been commuting daily to and from work and for most of that time I’ve ridden main roads (these days I mix it up with quite a bit of [...]

Tyler Hamilton – 8 years – finally a realistic ban…
I’ll admit that I don’t know a huge amount about the intricacies of the way the anti-doping regulations work – what falls into who’s jurisdiction, etc, but the recent decision to ban Hamilton (who is 38) for 8 years by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) should be applauded.
Far too often we’ve seen cyclists who should [...]

- NiteRider MiNewt.X2 - the sweet spot for bike lighting
The NiteRider MiNewt.X2 is a compact, high powered LED light that runs off a rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack. There are a few standouts with this light that out of the box will have you impressed. Firstly, the quality of the finish - this is a very well made light that has been well designed and thought through. Secondly, it's a very compact unit - the headlight itself is very small which makes it easy to find a place on your bars for it to live and the battery pack is nice and compact with a well designed velcro fastener. - Pedros Tyre Levers - my new faves
With nicely rounded corners and a very fat body, these levers set a new standard. Zero flex, no sharp bits and a good feel in the hand, I was surprised at how easily these levers prised my Conti tyres off. Two very big thumbs up. - Felt X-City - hassle free commuting...
This is a great bike, and if you commute and have never ridden a bike purpose set up for commuting, I'd encourage you to try it. - Electronic Dura-ace - in the flesh, and surprisingly good...
When it comes to electronic groupsets, I've thought "why bother" simply because I don't see how an electronic system is going to be singificantly better than a mechanical system. I was wrong. - Carnosine / Beta-alanine supplementation...
Looking for an endurance boost? Carnosine may be the answer... - Mother Energy Drink - nothing like the old one, exactly like Red Bull...
Tastes like Red Bull, but much cheaper...
